<p>If you know any vegans, you know that they abstain from eating all animals products. This means no cheese, no eggs, and most importantly, no meat. There are several reasons why people choose to adopt a vegan lifestyle. Some feel it is a healthier way of living and others have moral or ethical concerns about consuming animals.</p>
<p>Those who cite <a href="http://ezinearticles.com/?Why-Vegans-Dont-Consume-Meat&amp;id=255081">ethical reasons</a> are often primarily concerned with the way animals are treated. They are not happy with the way dairy cows are impregnated once a year to increase their milk output. They disagree with the warehousing of chickens for the purpose of egg production. Another ethical complaints involves the earlier removal of young cows, sheep, and piglets from their mothers.</p>
<p>Others believe that there are unhealthy chemicals and steroids used to increase the yield of many of the meat products we consume . They believe that by adopting a strictly<a href="http://anthomas760.wordpress.com/2011/06/21/a-vegan-diet/"> vegan diet</a> they are also removing steroids and hormones from their diet.</p>
<p>Finally, there are vegans who believe that refraining from eating meat products is simply healthier. Those who adopt this diet have low saturated fat levels. They have no unhealthy cholesterol in their bodies. Finally, they tend to have healthier body weights. There are other healthy benefits as well, especially for those who understand what it takes to create a healthy vegan diet.</p>
<p>Why ever a vegan has chosen to adopt the lifestyle, they will feel very strongly about it. Remember, it is a personal choice and one that should be respected.</p>

<p>What is wrong with an egg? They taste yummy, are an excellent source of protein, and have a variety of cooking methods. Still, vegans refuse to eat eggs. Understanding why vegans have made the decision not to eat eggs can help you better understand the process of vegetarianism.</p>
<p>While doctors and nutritionist advise parents of <a href="http://halfheartedhomemaker.com/2011/07/24/vegan-lunch-dining-out/">vegan</a> children to include eggs in their diets, most adults avoid them. There are two reasons why.</p>
<ol>
<li>Some vegans believe that eating an egg goes against their belief in eating ethically. Eggs are the precursor to chickens and as such should be treated in an ethical and moral way – this means no eggs.</li>
<li>Some vegans believe strongly in the health benefits of a completely vegan diet. Adding eggs into the mix will introduce several unhealthy factors into the diet – most notably cholesterol. Not eating eggs helps make sure the vegan gets the maximum health benefits from their diet.</li>
</ol>
<p>If a vegetarian does opt to include eggs in their diet they are called ova-vegetarians. They do not have an ethical issue with eggs and see them as an excellent source of protein. Children and pregnant women who follow a vegetarian lifestyle should consider including eggs. For those worried about the ethical treatment of animals in relations to food production, free range eggs are an excellent option. They are organic and ethically raised.</p>
<p>To eat eggs or not is a question faced by all who decide to adopt a vegetarian diet. After considering the ethical and nutritional issues, a decision can be more easily made.</p>

You strive to plan for all contingencies; but fate doesn’t favor preparation. It instead seeks to mock it, tossing unavoidable &#8212; and all too frustrating &#8212; situations toward you. And such situations often leave you without the necessary access to the foods you crave.</p>
<p>You are a Vegan. Your beliefs demand a life without animal products or tastes, rely instead on natural supplements. This isn&#8217;t always an easy philosophy, however. There are times when you are suddenly without food (surrounded instead to <a href="http://www.biology-online.org/dictionary/Carnivore" target="_blank">Carnivore</a> menus, with no chance of finding relief). A dilemma then plagues you &#8212; eat what you despise or go without and suffer.</p>
<p>This debate is all too familiar: and it is known as the Paris Exemption.</p>
<p>Offered as an alternative theory, the Paris Exemption states that individuals should <em>not</em> confine themselves to pure Veganism during difficult situations (such as while traveling and being unable to find their usual fare). It encourages all to instead consider animal by-products, such as eggs, honey and cheese.</p>
<p>This has caused endless controversy throughout the realm of Veganism. Many deem it to be contrary to <a href="http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/vegetarian-diet/HQ01596" target="_blank">the established rules</a>. The intention is not to defy the laws of natural living, however; it is instead to ensure that individuals don’t starve themselves for the sake of the cause. It doesn’t recommend meat or similar items. It simply lessens the requirements, ensuring that essential vitamins can be achieved. This is a survival method <em>only</em>.</p>
<p>The Paris Exemption allows Vegans to examine their beliefs &#8212; determining whether morality or sustenance is more important.</p>

<p>An excess of starch stuffed vegetables, a collection of sweet fruit: the days are defined to Veganism, with each meal offered flavors stripped of additives and animal fats. All tastes are natural; all rewards are immediate; and your body becomes a tribute to health &#8212; until your blood turns suddenly thin.</p>
<p>The pursuit of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veganism#History_and_definition" target="_blank">Veganism</a> is one shared by millions across the world. It defies continents, cultures and societal demands: allowing individuals of disparate backgrounds to be linked by a common cause. Such a cause is noble, but can also wreak havoc on blood.</p>
<p>All individuals &#8212; whether Vegan or Carnivore &#8212; require Iron to survive. This vitamin encourages the production of <a href="http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/003645.htm" target="_blank">hemoglobin</a> within the body. Without it blood can become thin, unable to provide the necessary support to organs. When this occurs a variety of complications can arise, such as: exhaustion, ulcers, Restless Leg Syndrome, palpitations and fainting.</p>
<p>These symptoms are more frequent within the Vegan community than their meat-eating counterparts. This is due to the fact that <a href="http://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/iron/" target="_blank">Iron</a> is typically found in animal fats or products. It’s essential therefore that individuals who rely on plant foods seek out supplements. Pills are often recommended and can provide the necessary ratios; molasses, however, has also been proven to be effective &#8212; and can offer a better taste.</p>
<p>Iron is vital for good health. Vegans must strive therefore to obtain it through any form they can. All diets should include an intake of 15 milligrams per day. This will ensure that hemoglobin is produced and bodies can remain balanced.</p>
<p>The quest for Veganism can be achieved &#8212; it simply demands supplemental support.</p>

<p>It’s a lazy assumption &#8212; Veganism is too often thought to be a singular notion, a shared dislike of meat. The masses believe that there are no distinctions to find within this philosophy. Instead it is considered the simplest of ideas.</p>
<p>The truth is far more complex, however.</p>
<p><a href="http://vegetarian.about.com/od/glossary/g/Vegan.htm" target="_blank">Veganism</a> is defined by separate perspectives: each demanding their own rules and requirements.</p>
<p>Dietary Veganism: The quest for a healthy lifestyle &#8212; utilizing plants and natural flavors &#8212; is a worthy one; and those who follow the rules of Dietary Veganism seek to achieve it. These individuals create meals that are composed entirely of <a href="http://www.vrg.org/nutshell/vegan.htm#nut" target="_blank">fruits, vegetables and vitamin supplements</a>. They refuse all forms of meat or animal fat in their menus. This regimen doesn’t extend to their daily routines, however, and they can still use products (such as clothing) that aren’t deemed Vegan. This is often considered a health conscious choice instead of a moral one.</p>
<p>Ethical Veganism: All life is precious. This is the creed of Ethical Veganism. The intention of this philosophy is to battle dependence on animal products &#8212; citing that such items encourage <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ethics_of_eating_meat#Ethics_of_killing_for_food" target="_blank">murder</a>. All creatures deserve the chance to survive, it&#8217;s argued, and the act of killing for the sake of simple convenience must end. Ethical Veganism demands a strict code of procedures. Every element of the day must be planned carefully, with alternatives offered for all products. This is recognized as a challenging objective but it has still gained much support throughout the world.</p>
<p>Understanding the differences between Dietary and Ethical Veganism is essential. They represent disparate ideas and must be recognized for the beliefs they offer.</p>

<p>I am a vegetarian from last 30 years of my life. After being a vegetarian for so long, I don’t consider meat as a food option anymore. I feel sick while passing through a meat counter in the supermarket. I try to sit far from people eating meat. On the other hand, it is also a truth that countless people are <a href="http://www.institutealislam.com/is-non-vegetarian-food-permitted-or-prohibited-for-the-human-being-part-one-by-dr-zakir-naik/">surviving on meat</a> since the commencement of this universe.</p>
<p>Although, it is a fact that I cannot stand meat, but it is also true that I have no problem with people eating it. I have many <a href="http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7985629">non-vegetarian friends</a> and relatives who assume that I look down on them for their eating habits. Their reaction is completely understandable to me. Many people who are vegetarian since birth and do not have a single person in their family who is a non-vegetarian tend to make a negative notion about people who eat meat. When it comes to my personal belief I feel that an eating habit that is different from me does not make their diet wrong.</p>
<p>One of the major problems that vegetarians face is the time when they need to share a table with non-vegetarians. Some vegetarians are <a href="http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/veg-vs-non-veg-am-i-being-too-sensitive">extremely sensitive</a> and that cannot bear the smell of the non-vegetarian food. For them, it is better to completely separate the table. If that is not possible, then you can try to restrict non-vegetarians to one side of the table while you can sit on the other side. However, my personal advice would be to accept things as they are. Respecting other fooding habits will make you a better person</p>

Although there are many common thoughts and practices, there are also many differences. Vegetarian is the overall term used to describe someone who does not eat meat, fish, poultry, or seafood. Vegan is actually a subcategory of vegetarian.</p>
<p>In fact, there are many subcategories of “vegetarian” such as semi-vegetarian, ovo-lacto-vegetarian, ovo-vegetarian, lacto-vegetarian, and vegan. Each subcategory takes their food choices to a different level including or excluding different things. Although the term “vegetarian includes vegans as well as the other subcategories of vegetarianism, it is usually not as restrictive or strict as being vegan.</p>
<p>A semi-vegetarian is considered someone who is vegetarian but does consume eggs, dairy products, fish, and sometimes chicken but does not consume any other types of animal flesh.</p>
<p>An ovo-lacto-vegetarian does not consume any meat, poultry, fish, or seafood but do consume eggs and milk. This is actually the largest group of vegetarians. However, an ovo-vegetarian is generally described as someone who would be vegan is they did not consume eggs. A lacto-vegetarian on the other hand is described as someone who would be vegan if they did not consume milk.</p>
<p>Being vegan involves a more strict lifestyle. Vegans do not consume any animal products or by-products. Honey and yeast can even be on the list of no-nos for some vegans. Other vegans may choose not to even wear clothing made from animal products.</p>

Talk to your host and assure them that they do not need to change their entire menu to accommodate you. Maybe it is time for you to change that tradition a little by switching to a little healthier or low-fat version of some of your favorite meals.</p>
<p>You can still have some of the foods that you love and that are traditional meals, but just change some of the ingredients around. Use low-fat cheese, low-fat mayonnaise, skim or 1% milk, healthier meat selections, whole grains, less butter, etc. If you do a search for low-calorie or low-fat recipes for your favorite dishes, you are sure to find something that will satisfy you and your guests. Who knows, maybe you will start some new traditional meals.</p>
<p>If you are going to be the guest at a gathering, you can offer to bring one of your favorite dishes and cook it in a healthier way to at least give one healthy option. Otherwise, just make some wise choices. Take smaller portions of the higher fat, higher calorie foods and more servings of vegetables and healthy alternatives. Watch your portions. If you are really craving some of that dessert, do not completely deprive yourself, but keep portion control in mind. A couple of bites of that delicious cake or pie can help curb that sweet craving without overloading your body.</p>

<p>Rather than snacking on junk food, you need to find some healthy alternatives to fatty, salty snacks and pack them up to bring with you rather than picking snacks up along the way. Pack a small cooler with fruits and veggies. Cut them up into bite-size pieces and store in zippered storage bags. Cheese sticks are also a healthy option. Mix up a batch of trail mix with nuts, low-fat pretzels, raisins, unsweetened dried fruits, etc. that you like. Separate into plastic storage bags. Bring along a gallon jug of purified water and some water bottles rather than buying soft drinks or bottled water along the way.</p>
<p>When you stop for meals, avoid the fast food restaurants. Plan your time and budget to allow for a sit-down meal. Choose restaurants that will have healthy alternatives. Order your meats steamed or broiled rather than fried with a side of steamed vegetables. Do not over eat. Your body is sedentary and does not need as many calories.</p>
<p>You can eat healthy while you are on a road trip. It just takes a little extra time and planning. You will definitely feel better at the end of your trip if you follow these few simple guidelines.</p>

The International Vegetarian Union (IVU) is a not-for-profit organization. Membership to the organization can be attained by anyone who wants to evangelize vegetarianism. The governing body of this organization is comprised of vegetarians themselves.</p>
<p>IVU provides membership to other non-profit organizations, provided their objectives tally with those of IVU. Such organizations must also be involved in the promotion of vegetarianism. IVU, apart from members have supporters as well. Supporters need not be vegetarian. Supporters can be individuals, organizations or any entity for that matter. IVU&#8217;s members have to be pure vegetarians. They must not eat meat at all. Even poultry products like eggs are forbidden. They should not even eat fish by-products like fish-oil capsules.</p>
<p>IVU aims to promote vegetarianism throughout the world. It encourages non-profit organizations to form local chapters in their countries and get affiliated to IVU. This decentralized mechanism helps it to spread the word throughout the world.<br />

Although the benefits of vegetarianism have not been completely understood, historical case studies have determined its efficacy in abetting overall good health and being.</p>
<p>Vegetarians have a body mass index that is well within control. Vegetarian food does not increase weight. It actually regulates it. Meat on the other hand increases body weight. It does aid in the development of muscles and strength. But core strength like the strength of the immunity system comes from vegetarian food. One could also informally say that even mental capacity is helped by vegetarian food.</p>
<p>A lower body mass index is the most important factor for people to take up vegetarianism. In times such as these where body consciousness has raised dramatically, a lower BMI means more confidence. People are battling with weight loss issues, and a lower body mass index is like a distant dream for them. Again, vegetarianism answers this qualm in these modern times by being a food-source deplete with cholesterol and replete with nutrition.</p>
<p>Vegetarian foods have remarkably low cholesterol. Or one could say absolutely no cholesterol. This is probably the single most differentiating factor from non-vegetarian foods. Doctors love to tell their patients about eating only vegetarian food. They don’t even need to give you a prescription. It’s just that you have to avoid fried vegetarian food.</p>
<p>Otherwise you are just fine eating any type of vegetarian food.  Vegetarianism promotes longer life and a healthier life. Vegetarians are said to live longer and last longer. Vegetarian food habits increases life expectancy. As the body slows down with age, things that one eats will also not get absorbed that easily. This is where a vegetarian background kicks in. If you have been a staunch vegetarian for many years, then your metabolic and physiological systems might also be non-problematic in function.</p>

<p>You don’t need to have only non-vegetarian food for occasions. It is fine to have vegetarian food as well. Vegetarian food for special occasions is the latest fashion fad. There are plenty of private ceremonies that do not need a barbeque grill to make it a grand success. People are now beginning to prefer vegetarian food over non-vegetarian.<br />
The change in attitudes is due to a lot of factors. Firstly, non-vegetarianism is slightly cliché. It has become an oft-eaten diet, and people want to stay away from it for some time. Some people have become so health conscious that they have completely stopped meat food.<br />
The benefits of vegetarian food outnumber the benefits of non-vegetarian food. Vegetarianism was at the outset relegated as a boring type of food, lacking taste and titillation. But not anymore. Coming primarily from the sub-continent, especially India, vegetarian food has had a re-fashioning. In other words, more research and thought has gone to develop tasty vegetarian food.<br />
People who have been vegetarian for some time will tell the difference. Vegetarian food is likely to make people thinner, stronger, and smarter. Agreed, some of the proteins that meat has might not be present in vegetarian food, but this is a small sacrifice to make. Given the benefits of vegetarian food, the proteins in non-vegetarian food is not much to consider.<br />
Even countries that by tradition eat non-vegetarian food have begun to vouch for the benefits of vegetarian food. Initially vegetarian food was seen against the backdrop of cultural and religious curtains. Now the change has been spurred with the new-age man who is embattling diseases related to sedentary lifestyles.<br />
Vegetarianism is the way to go in the future. As the world evolves more and more people will be victims of inactivity. Humans no longer work hard in farms, fields or at factories. Although some do, not everyone does, thanks to technology. In such times, eating right is all that matters.</p>

<p>This article attempts to differentiate between vegetarianism and non-vegetarianism. The debate between the two preferences has raged from a long time. The shortcomings of a vegetarian diet have been taken into consideration and so are the health hazards of a non-vegetarian diet.  Now looking at both forms of the diet, we are often confused as to what suits us best.</p>
<p>As human beings we are accustomed to habit. A diet-change is not easy for us. Over the years we become accustomed to one type of food. According to the world health organization, the next ten years will see several hundreds of billions of diabetes related deaths. Now this is an alarming statistic.</p>
<p>There are three types of people. The vegetarians, the non-vegetarians and the general eaters. The vegetarians eat only vegetarian food, while the non-vegetarian eats meat primarily. The others eat both veg as well as non-veg.   A vegetarian will consume all plant foods. This may or may not include milk, and other diary products. The non-vegetarian will primarily eat meat and fish.</p>
<p>Studies have shown that vegetarians lack certain nutritional aspects in their bodies. Since meat is rich in iron, and plants might not have that quantity of iron in them, vegetarians might become anemic or have susceptibility to be so.  The can also have deficiency in Vitamin B12 and zinc. But this is not always correct. Vegetarians can get enough of all these nutritional elements from vegetarian food. There are plenty of vegetarian foods that have such nutritional elements. It all comes down to the vegetarian food group.</p>
<p>Now coming to non-vegetarians. Non-vegetarians have shorter lives. They are more at risk for getting heart diseases. They are also the most susceptible to suffer from liver problems, and diabetes. When meat is eaten, it is sometimes eat in certain ways that make it unhealthy. Fried fish and chicken are one of them.</p>
<p>So what’s the best food to eat? It is still be vegetarian.</p>

And, if you have any kind of a humanitarian streak running through you, you should know that the conditions under which most animals live are outright deplorable.</p>
<p>But, what can you do about all of this? One person might not be able to change the world, but if a few people pursued a degree in culinary arts, some changes could take place in restaurants, kitchens, and homes worldwide. Anyone can get online degrees in all sorts of culinary fields, and become a full fledged chef.  From there, you can start your own restaurant, or revolutionize the menus at some great restaurants, helping to change food cultures, reduce meat consumption, and build a healthier society.</p>

In other words, what you eat is what you get. On the lines with what you see is what you get.   The activity in the urban population has decreased. Sedentary lifestyles have created the need to redefine eating habits.</p>
<p>This is where vegetarianism comes in the picture. Why should you become a vegetarian? Here are some reasons.</p>
<p>1)	Vegetarianism promotes longer life. In fact, a healthier one. Science has proven this fact, so there’s nothing to be verified with this. You eat vegan more, you are likely to think, act, and live a brighter life.</p>
<p>2)	Meat has cholesterol. If you have heard this word before, you would know that it is a bad thing to have in the body. Cholesterol blocks arteries that carry blood, which causes heart attacks. Vegetarian food has no cholesterol. It does not create pressure for the kidneys too.</p>
<p>3)	More meat production takes a toll on the natural resources that are used to develop livestock. For example, grains, grassland, and a lot of other natural feeds are necessary for livestock. This again is a pressure on natural resources. At the same time if people ate more vegetarian food, then such pressure on natural resources can be avoided.</p>
<p>4)	The iron content in meat is said to produce free molecules that bump into good molecule chains and destroy them. So more meat intake can give rise to the production of more free radicals, which is not good for the body.</p>
<p>5)	Vegetarians rarely have heart disease, liver problems or kidney problems. In fact they do not have any disease at all, unless they are strongly predisposed to contracting something due to heredity.  So the above are some of the reasons why you should go vegetarian.</p>
